On Saturday October 16, master craftsman Frank Meyernick, who fashioned the cross out of cedar wood, along with his son Bob, secured the cross in the ground with cement. After being certain the cross was level, they created temporary braces to secure the cross while the cement was drying.

On Sunday October 16, following Divine Liturgy, Fr. Peter, assisted by an "army" of altarboys processed to the Cross to celebrate the blessing ceremony.

The beautiful cross shrine which now adorns the church grounds is the second prayer shrine to be erected on the church property. It stands as a beacon of hope to the faithful parishioners and the neighborhood during the turbulent days of the 21st century.
